Terms of service

These terms are an agreement between you and ilumd about your use of the ilumd service. ilumd is a business name operated by a sole trader based in Queensland, Australia. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to them. If you use ilumd for an organisation, you confirm you can agree on its behalf. Questions go to support@ilumd.com.

The service

ilumd is a governance and publishing layer over documentation that you keep in repositories you connect. It lets you find and organise those docs, decide who can see each one, publish them to portals, connect other tools, and use features such as freshness signals, suggested edits, and AI answers. We improve the service continually, so features may be added, changed, or retired. If we remove something material that you pay for, we will tell you in advance.

Accounts and access

You are responsible for your account, for keeping access to your email secure (we sign people in through it), and for what happens under your account. As an account owner or editor, you decide who can see each doc, including people outside your organisation and the public. Check your sharing choices before you publish: we enforce the access you set, and we are not responsible for content you choose to share.

Trials, plans, and billing

• Each workspace starts with a free trial, currently 30 days, with no card required. When a trial ends without billing set up, access for people outside your organisation is switched off and your data is kept, so you can restore it by subscribing.
• Paid plans are charged in advance, monthly, at the prices on our pricing page, plus any applicable taxes. Readers are not charged for. Charges for editors and add-ons, where they apply, are set out on the pricing page.
• A workspace can be paid for by your organisation or directly by your client. Whoever pays is our customer for that workspace, and ilumd is the seller in either case.
• If a payment fails, we will try again and let you know. If it is not resolved after a short grace period, access for people outside your organisation may be suspended until it is.
• We may change prices. We will give you at least 30 days’ notice before a change applies to an existing subscription.
• You can cancel at any time, and the cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. Except where the law requires otherwise, payments already made are not refunded.

Your content

Your documents and other content remain yours. You give ilumd permission to host, copy, process, and display your content only as needed to provide the service to you and the people you share it with, including sending it to the tools you connect and to our AI provider when someone uses an AI feature. We do not claim ownership of your content and we do not use it to train AI models. Our privacy policy explains how we handle personal data.

You confirm you have the rights to the content and repositories you connect, and that connecting them doesn’t breach anyone else’s rights or agreements.

Connected tools

When you connect a third-party tool, such as a code host, issue tracker, or publishing tool, you authorise ilumd to act within the permissions you grant, for example opening a pull request, creating an issue, or updating a page. Your use of those tools is governed by their own terms, and we are not responsible for them. Some features, such as edits returning as pull requests, rely on those tools working; if a provider changes or withdraws access, the related feature may stop working.

AI features

AI output is generated automatically and may be incomplete or wrong. Answers cite the docs they draw on so you can check them. You are responsible for reviewing AI output before relying on it, and nothing AI-generated is published without a person approving it.

Acceptable use

Don’t use ilumd to break the law, infringe anyone’s rights, publish harmful or deceptive content, or send spam. Don’t try to access documents or accounts you aren’t authorised to see, probe or disrupt the service, get around usage limits, or misuse free trials, such as by creating repeated trials for the same client. We may suspend or close accounts that do, and we will tell you why unless the law or security prevents it.

Telling us about mistakes

We aim for everything on this website and in the service to be accurate and current, including what we say about other products. If you believe something is inaccurate or out of date, email support@ilumd.com and we will look into it and correct it promptly.

Ending the agreement

You can stop using ilumd and close your account at any time. We may end the agreement or suspend access if you seriously or repeatedly breach these terms, or if we stop offering the service, in which case we will give you reasonable notice and a refund of any prepaid amount for the time not provided. After your account closes, you can ask for a copy of your data for a reasonable period, after which we delete it as our privacy policy describes. Your docs remain in your own repositories throughout.

Warranties and liability

We work hard to keep ilumd available and accurate, but we provide it as is and do not promise it will be uninterrupted or free of errors. To the extent the law allows, we exclude all other warranties, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, such as lost profits, revenue, or data. Our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits rights you have that cannot lawfully be excluded, including the consumer guarantees under the Australian Consumer Law. Where our liability for a breach of such a guarantee can be limited, it is limited to supplying the service again or paying the cost of having it supplied again.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the service grows. We will change the date above, and for changes that materially affect you we will email account owners at least 30 days before they take effect. If you keep using the service after that, the new terms apply; if you don’t agree, you can cancel before they do.

General

These terms are governed by the laws of Queensland, Australia, and disputes will be heard in the courts of Queensland. If any part is found unenforceable, the rest continues to apply. You may not transfer this agreement without our consent; we may transfer it as part of a merger or sale of the business. For anything else, contact support@ilumd.com.
